This scaffold is inspired by a class of secondary students who wanted to make their lessons tied more to their lives. They told me that they wanted to focus on women’s issues this month and next. It turns out the 25th of November is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and so I came up with this scaffold. See what you think!

Step By Step: CLIL Elimination Violence Women

You can begin with the video, but this order gives your students more academic language support:

A. Students match images with vocabulary.
B. In pairs, read text on factors considered to be abusive dating practices, and write down any other evidence of dating abuse they think of, have experiences, or have heard about.
C. Read the list of solutions for the elimination of violence against women from young people from all over the world.
D. Watch video. (Click on thumbnail of video below or click here.)
E. In pairs, students come up with another way to find a solution for eliminating violence against women.
